MY FIRST LOOK IN AN ABAYA WITH SOME TIPS

An abaya exudes elegance & regality. And the best part is, you could be wearing leggings and a tank top but as soon as you throw on a good abaya, it has the power to make you look pulled together and sophisticated as well as ready for any occasion. It's like the red lipstick of outfits!

And I have been an observer of abaya styling and have always wanted abayas to be a part of my wardrobe. Since quite a long time, I have been receiving a lot of requests to do some abaya styling posts. I always had it on my list but I am still not sure what was stopping me from creating this epitome of a graceful outfit. Maybe I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do justice with this outfit, as to me, when you wear an abaya, everything elegant matches well with it… right from your shoes, bags and body language and even the way you smile.

And when I decided to add Abayas to my closet, here are the things which I kept in mind and planned accordingly.

  • I was wearing an Abaya for the first time, so it was going to be a new experience for me. Therefore, it was important for me to prioritize comfort when selecting the attire. I just wanted to make sure that I select a material and design that would be comfortable to wear.
  • I wanted my abaya to be made with a really good material, so I was prepared to spend a little extra. I also wanted to make sure it looked very rich and classy. It had to be flowy with the perfect silhouette and there had to be some sort of styling which made it more than just a plain black abaya.

  •  I also wanted to pay a little attention on styling, since abayas make any outfit look more classy and rich. This is why I added accessories and styled it accordingly.
  • I always liked open abayas, as you can pair them with almost any kind of inner outfit. Whether you’re out running errands or simply lounging around with your friends. Also, wearing an open abaya gives only a hint of what you are wearing underneath, which makes it more stylish.

  • I knew I wanted it to keep it simple, so I preferred the color black in abayas, which would allow me to use abayas in plenty of mix-and-match combinations, and most of the time, less is more (especially in modest fashion). Black-colored abayas can be used for any type of occasion, from casual Fridays to formal evening events. So, keeping that in mind, recently I have spent a good amount of money on buying 5 sets of abayas from different brands.

  • Getting the right fit is another crucial tip that can make or break your entire look. Do not opt for a body-skimming Abaya, as it will end up looking odd on any figure. Moreover, if it is too tight, you will struggle to slip into it in the first place. Don’t opt for Abaya that is too loose as well. Avoid overwhelming yourself with heavy fabric abaya, especially if you have a petite figure. It will make you look bulky and baggy, which is not the right look. Ensure that the material fits perfectly over your shoulders. Loose-fitted Abaya can overpower your figure and make you feel uncomfortable. You can choose belted abayas that are quite form-flattering and can accentuate your slim waist.

I will be writing another blog soon after exploring some more styles in abaya, so stay tuned and turn on the notifications.
