HOME SWEET HOME : BISSELL VAC AND STEAM REVIEW

When my maid left Doha to meet her family and later informed me that she won’t be back due to family commitments in India, I decided not to have another maid till this pandemic is over and normal life resumes.

I started planning how I was going to survive without a maid and cleaning was my top priority, as I wanted it to be very easy on me. Mainly because this is something I want done every day in my house.

I started searching for vacuum cleaners which were easy to use but did the best work. Then, I and my husband started visiting places to find a mop-type of vacuum cleaner with the maximum benefits. And I found this Bissell Vac and Steam 2-in-1.

The Bissell Vac & Steam is an unusual steam mop that has a built-in vacuum cleaner. That means it’s heavier than either a standalone steam mop or a stick vacuum. But it makes quick work of cleaning floors because you can do both tasks at once.

It doesn’t have a hand-held steam cleaner or scrubby brushes, so it’s no use for curtains or upholstery, or even really ingrained stains. But it heats up quickly and gives you clean, mopped floors in record time.

So If you have messy kitchen floors that are regularly mucked-up by kids, pets and keen gardeners that are less keen to remove their wellies, the floor is likely to need two-stage cleaning. The first is a vacuum all over to remove the dust, dirt, fur balls and those little bits of chopped vegetables that seem to multiply overnight. Dust suitably cleared, you can then steam-clean the sticky stains and mud, leaving a fully buffed floor.

I love a multi-tasking machine and this steam mop from Bissell is a steam mop and vacuum in one, which is a great idea. As a steam mop it does the job, but while the vacuum is good on hard floors it isn’t really that great on the carpets.

So overall, I would give it 3.5/5

SOME FACTS I LIKED:

Heats up quickly

Adjustable height

Mop heads are easy to fit

Two steam settings

Vacuum and steam can be used together as well as separately.

Mop heads are machine washable

SOME FACTS I DISLIKED:

Not easy to manoeuvre around corners, because it doesn't have a swivel head

The water tank is also quite small

It’s not wireless
