HAIRCARE: INCLUDE AMLA, REETHA AND SHIKAKAI FOR HEALTHY AND HAPPY HAIR

Haircare is no cakewalk and who would understand it better than our generation.Exposure to pollution, bad hair products, lots of hair treatments, poor diets, stress, etc,
there are a number of factors that can cause hairfall and hair damage.

Most hair products are loaded with toxic chemicals that give our hair instant gratification, they help give us clean, shiny, bouncy and smooth locks, which often makes us settle for them.
However, these short-term benefits come along with long-term ill effects- dry and damaged hair and in in some cases, a bad hair fall.

And unfortunately I have been through all these stages.

And to fix all these problems I started using Amla, Areetha and Shikaki that are known in India as hair fruits. Amla and Areetha and shikaki wasn’t new for me as I had used it in India for many years but because it needs a lot of planning and using is not as clean of a process as a regular shampoo is and I was busy with work I stopped using it. But this time when no treatment worked for me to stop my hair fall I decided to make this shampoo and use it as my treatment. Now I wash my hair 2 times a week with the homemade shampoo and once in 2 weeks with a regular shampoo .
Just know that this shampoo won’t work or give desirable results if you have any medical condition or concerns. So please consult an expert before trying this shampoo.

Amla, Areetha and Shikakai are Ayuverdic herbs and are easily available in India so I generally bring lots of it whenever I visit India but you can order it online too.
It’s better to opt for raw herbs rather than the powder form to be sure about the purity of it.

The measurements required are
* 10 g shikakai pods
* 10 g reetha
* 5 g amla
* 750 mL water

To make a home made shampoo of Amla Areetha and shikakai you can follow these steps

* Soak a few dried shikakai pods, a little reetha and dried amla overnight.

* Boil the water the next morning until the pods soften.

* Cool, mash and strain the liquid, (use gloves) and use it as your shampoo. I generally massage my head with it and keep it on my hair for about an 1 hour or so.

* Use gloves whenever you apply it because it might give a slightly dark color to your hands which shouldn’t be there after you wash it well.

* Also ignore using this shampoo if you have colored hair.

* You can make fresh shampoo whenever you want to use it but I generally make enough for a minimum of 10 washes and then I keep it in an air tight bottle in my fridge

* It might not give you the foam as much as a readymade shampoo might, but it does make the job better.
